Wonder

This morning I had a nice chat on the phone with my Mama.
I sat on my couch sipping tea, and watching the leaves fall.
She sat in her car in the Walmart parking lot.
During our brief connection ...
God came up, and we cried together.
We giggled & sent good vibes to the little-cart-pushing-guy
tackling a record-breaking train of carts.
Teared up with appreciation for Christmas-light-lady with the house on the corner,
and a kind heart.
Shared a few fur-kid stories, and then cut off the conversation
mid-topic with quick "I love you" s and a "talk later"
before she began to roast in her car.

Yesterday I volunteered at the therapy barn.
We trotted with a sweet girl, and I watched as she lit up with joy,
 and laughed.
It was her first trot.
That step.
A moment of wonder.

Also... worth mentioning,
...is the record-breaking acorn I almost stumbled over
on my walk around the lake.
I never.....,
I'm still in awe.
Today I am on a wonder high.

A few thoughts on mindfulness.

The dissatisfaction I feel in my soul is due to my focus.
I will restore a sense of openness and wonder to my daily round.

Rituals that help keep me open to wonder & focused:

Morning stillness, and quiet
The first sip of coffee
Journaling
Prayer and Meditation
Breathwork (4-7-8)
Hubby's wave as he drives off in the morning
Having a good cry
Walking in nature
Hearing the sound of a loved one pulling in the driveway
Sitting down to dinner with a gratitude prayer
Curling up in the evening to watch an episode of  our favorite series.
Grays Anatomy at the moment...
which makes me think of my cousin...thanks cuz!)
Practicing being more present, and mindful.
 Practicing Tai Chi
Practicing gratitude.
Practice, practice, practice....

be well...
xoxo
