Simplicitites

"Year by year the complexities of this spinning world
grow more bewildering and so each year we need all the more
to seek peace and comfort in the joyful simplicities."
~Women's Home Companion, December 1935~

Simple things...

 The moment of shift.
From rush to a long pause,
as I wait for some random chicken to cross the road.

Little boy giggles over T-rex arms, and horse poop.

Singing along to Abba as we walk around the arena.

Taking the long way home on country roads,
just me and my camera.

Brandon laughing on the phone, as he recapped his
snowmaggedon experience at the local market.

Struggling with a decision. Praying about it.
And Hubby walking in, answering the question
I didn't even ask.

The heat in the old farm truck as we roll hay out for the cows in the snow,
a mug of hot tea,
and getting a call from my Dad.

be well...

'Here's the thing about joy:
You can't catch it, or manufacture it.
You can only experience it.
It will never trespass nor arrive uninvited.
It loves to be welcomed & will leave
if only it is being ignored.'

" 11 Rules of Inner Peace:

Stay honest
Heal your past
Let go of tension
Be kind and giving
Speak your boundaries
Pause instead of reacting
Connect with good friends
Live in the present moment
Maintain a grateful mindset
Don't get attached to drama
Be flexible, change is inevitable."

Boundaries

Savor, observe, expand, ground, balance, longing, truth, teacher,
friend, authenticity, spirit, belonging, change, emotions, healing, space, grace,
acceptance, action, presence, awareness, faith, peace, internal, priority, seen,
responsibility, respect, influence, values, roots.

My Dad walking ahead of me, & my heart echoing my GPS..."Recalculating".
Emotional send-offs, hugs, and aches of separation.
Feelings of longing to stay, slightly distracted
by activity, travel, people watching, seatmates, turbulence and a
readiness to get home.

Some shifting taking place. Uncertainty, voids, and struggle,
replaced with faith, love, and stillness.

Thoughts on moving forward, responsibility, direction,
and assessment, and then onto thoughts about boundaries.

Did you know that 80 % of the population has never learned about boundaries?
I for one, never got the memo.
I learned manners, how to be respectful, and to how to survive and defend,
but if there was much said about boundaries....I missed it.

Boundaries came to my attention as a tool a few years ago.
During a trip back home, my kiddo purchased a book
as a gift for his sister-friend.
He told me I might like it too, and to check it out.
I didn't want to thumb through the pages,
however I read the covers, and ordered it when I returned home.

With that little backstory,
I decided to delve into the-book-of-which-I-speak again.
3rd. time.
As with anything...it takes practice and refreshing
myself on the information.
I'm passing on some bits as I go.
If life feels wonky, Boundaries are a good place to start.
It's a good tool that can help in making choices
through change.
And a guide to assist in finding direction.

For starters, I will share a page from "The Boundary Boss."
(the book of which I speak) on rights.

"Boundary Boss Bill Of Rights"

"❤ You have the right to say no (or yes) to others without feeling guilty.

❤ You have the right to make mistakes, to course correct, or change your mind.

❤ You have the right to negotiate for your preferences, desires and needs.

❤ You have the right to express and honor all of your feelings, if you so choose.

❤ You have the right to voice your own opinion even if others disagree.

❤ You have the right to be treated with respect, consideration, and care.

❤ You have the right to determine who has the privilege of being in your life.

❤ You have the right to communicate your boundaries, limits, and deal-breakers.

❤ You have the right to prioritize your self-care without feeling selfish.

❤ You have the right to talk true, be seen, and live free."

~The Boundary Boss~

The relationship we have with ourself is the most important.
We are responsible for our own happiness.

Be well...

"Love yourself enough to set boundaries.
Your time and energy are precious.
You get to choose how you use it.
You teach people how to treat you
by deciding what you will and won't accept."

" Love yourself first and everything else falls into line.
You really have to love yourself to get anything
done in this world."
