Happiness

Connections, introspection, support, compassion, worth,
acceptance, refuge, light, up, truth, real,
belonging, funny, sharing, loyalty, comfortable, encouraging,
warm, tender, loss, appreciation, affectionate, helpful, relax, contentment,
accountability, forgiveness, focus, love, understanding, purpose, teachers,
self, healthy, trust, provision, happiness, whole, safe.

Sitting cross-legged on my yoga mat.
Breathing in a deep inhale, and one more
quick sip-like breath in. Hold. Releasing slowly...a little more...more. Empty.
A gentle breeze through open windows pairing up with my next inhale.
Polly laying at the head of my mat. Purring. Content.
 Finally.
Two days of skepticism, & observing
every move, habit, and routine, to make sure I was legit.
Cautious. Aware.
Sure of me.
Tree branches swaying, a light rain splashing on the rooftop.
A colorful burst of zinnias cut this morning, & displayed in an old vintage jar.
Yoga by Adrianne playing quietly in the background,
gently guiding me into Child's pose.
Peaceful.
Present.
Content.

Journal notes...

Don't worry about what is on the road ahead, find serenity in the present.

"I want you to go forward along your life-path in step with Me.
I will not help you go backward, so beware of seeking refuge
in the past. Keep moving forward in the direction I choose."
~Jesus~

It is VITAL that you pace yourself according
to God's timing. Do not rush ahead or lag behind.
He will help you in all of these matters.

You need to be ready to break up with the previous,
more familiar version of yourself, if you want to step into
new things.  Do things a little differently.
Blaze some new trails.

Take initiative today, and try a new creative
way of walking toward changes you want to see.

"You won't be distracted by comparison
if you're captivated by purpose."

Sunday

Life, treasure, quiet, discipline, self-care, triggers, healing,
protected, grace, trust, words, priorities, light, breath, yoga, faith,
listen, see, hear, awareness, surrender, hope, fuel, allow, curiosity,
humility, provision, feelings, release, assurance, care, journal, reflection, truth.

Be open. Go with the flow.
Trust that what is meant to enter your life will come.
Be patient.
Be still. Listen. Breathe.
Appreciate the small things.
The soft breeze on your face, breathing in and savoring the first cup
of coffee in the morning. Thunder. A gentle rain. Slow days.
A good cry. Space to be. Get mucky and frustrated with your feelings.
Face them.
Find the gift in the pain. Let it pass.
Write in a journal. Read words that inspire.
Notice & savor the good in the present moment.
Observe all that is.
Care for yourself.
You don't have to wait for everything to line up &
have all the answers to feel good.
There is comfort in the small & meaningful things.
Don't put your happiness on hold.

A few Journal notes from this week:

"I am with you and will watch over you,
wherever you go. I will not leave you.
I will show you the areas that need changing.
Listen, I desire to say something to you.
Stay connected to Me, I will show you what to do.
Fear calls out your insecurities and doubts.
Listen for My voice.
Be willing to follow Me wholeheartedly wherever I lead.
Break free from the habit of assessing everything.
Look for precious gifts I've placed along the way.
Be on the lookout for good things.
Carve out more time for your own thoughts, feelings and desires.
Be confident that I will help you.
Trust Me.
I will restore you.
You are my beloved.
Live in that belief.
(letter compilation)
~Jesus~

Forgive yourself and move forward with your life.

Sometimes it's more appropriate to let go,
detach, and stop trying so hard.

If it is not working or flowing,
step back and wait for clear guidance.

'Life might be trying to tell you something.
Life is a gentle teacher.
Sometimes the signs are subtle.
Often the answer will arise in the quietness
of letting go.'

Kick self abandonment, deceit, and denial & resentment
to the curb.

Postpone a problem and it will grow."

"God's will most often happens in spite of us,

"If it is a quiet day, trust the stillness.
If it's a day of action, trust the activity.
If it is time to wait, trust the pause.
If it is time to receive that which we have been waiting for,

and receive the gift of joy."

Boundaries

Savor, observe, expand, ground, balance, longing, truth, teacher,
friend, authenticity, spirit, belonging, change, emotions, healing, space, grace,
acceptance, action, presence, awareness, faith, peace, internal, priority, seen,
responsibility, respect, influence, values, roots.

My Dad walking ahead of me, & my heart echoing my GPS..."Recalculating".
Emotional send-offs, hugs, and aches of separation.
Feelings of longing to stay, slightly distracted
by activity, travel, people watching, seatmates, turbulence and a
readiness to get home.

Some shifting taking place. Uncertainty, voids, and struggle,
replaced with faith, love, and stillness.

Thoughts on moving forward, responsibility, direction,
and assessment, and then onto thoughts about boundaries.

Did you know that 80 % of the population has never learned about boundaries?
I for one, never got the memo.
I learned manners, how to be respectful, and to how to survive and defend,
but if there was much said about boundaries....I missed it.

Boundaries came to my attention as a tool a few years ago.
During a trip back home, my kiddo purchased a book
as a gift for his sister-friend.
He told me I might like it too, and to check it out.
I didn't want to thumb through the pages,
however I read the covers, and ordered it when I returned home.

With that little backstory,
I decided to delve into the-book-of-which-I-speak again.
3rd. time.
As with anything...it takes practice and refreshing
myself on the information.
I'm passing on some bits as I go.
If life feels wonky, Boundaries are a good place to start.
It's a good tool that can help in making choices
through change.
And a guide to assist in finding direction.

For starters, I will share a page from "The Boundary Boss."
(the book of which I speak) on rights.

"Boundary Boss Bill Of Rights"

"❤ You have the right to say no (or yes) to others without feeling guilty.

❤ You have the right to make mistakes, to course correct, or change your mind.

❤ You have the right to negotiate for your preferences, desires and needs.

❤ You have the right to express and honor all of your feelings, if you so choose.

❤ You have the right to voice your own opinion even if others disagree.

❤ You have the right to be treated with respect, consideration, and care.

❤ You have the right to determine who has the privilege of being in your life.

❤ You have the right to communicate your boundaries, limits, and deal-breakers.

❤ You have the right to prioritize your self-care without feeling selfish.

❤ You have the right to talk true, be seen, and live free."

~The Boundary Boss~

The relationship we have with ourself is the most important.
We are responsible for our own happiness.

Be well...

"Love yourself enough to set boundaries.
Your time and energy are precious.
You get to choose how you use it.

You really have to love yourself to get anything
done in this world."

Moment #4

Familiar. Favorites. Exploration. Acceptance. Happiness. Comfort. Welcoming. Warm. Natural. Culture. Art. Nostalgia. Laughter. Hospitality. Gatherings. Friendships. Simple. Earthy. Soulful. Picturesque. Easygoing. Yesteryear. Energized. Music. Repose. Heritage. Family. Love.

Meeting up with my cousin on Main Street. Combing through boxes of free books setting on a table outside of her church. Free. Beautifully Illustrated. Most like new.  A cook book filled with healthy meals, A poignant novel, a photography journal, and one on creating a beautiful life. Treasured finds tucked to my chest. A donation tucked in the box. Taking a walk along the railroad tracks & selfies to capture the moment. Exploring the quaint Vintage and Reloved shops along the way for hidden gems. Unearthing a comfy gray sweatshirt, a coffee mug with a red bird in a Swedish design, and an artsy box of matches. ❤️

A trip to Taft farms to visit the rescue animals. Always an essential stop.  The old rabbit that reminds me of Ollie...the white horse whose 4O+, still grazing in the pasture. Crazy rooster friend fighting his way to take center stage for a photo, and the donkey's competing for a bit of attention.
Pausing to breathe it all in...a beautiful day, a wonderful breeze, white fluffy clouds and a John Deere tractor to complete the scene. Purching a melon handpicked by the owner, a 1/2 dozen white peaches and a sparkling water to go. ❤️

An old chicken coop being converted into a home. 20+ years of doing it themselves. Living in a small section. Holding off the move until completion. Repurposed original materials and other supplies. Master skills. Attention to details. Imagination and creativity. An aesthetic wonderland. My Stepdad's friends, that have become mine. An open invite to stop by any time. Gathering on their deck, family and friends. Stories and laughter. Catching up. Simple. Easygoing. Kindred spirits. ❤️

Sitting at the table with Dad,  thumbing through old black & white photos.
Listening to stories of my Grandma and Grandpa & Dad's youth. His pets. His firsts. Serving in the Air Force. Munching on bites of fresh muskmelon cut in chunks. Seeing life through the eyes of my Grandma behind the lens of her camera. ❤️

The local farmers market on Saturday. Being welcomed back home by one of the vendors. Old folksy tunes being sang solo as she strums her guitar.
Later a trip to the top of the mountain to visit a childhood friend. More like a sister. Her Mom who was my babysitter, and her sister. My Dad capturing a moment. A clear view of the village below. Sharing some memories. Making more. ❤️

From my journal:

'Make sure you have a couple of people you can get super real with, who push you to be the best version of yourself, but don't try to take over. They won't tell you what to do, but will remind you of who you are becoming.'

Journey toward authenticity and fulfillment. Be willing to acknowledge your mistakes and learn from them.

Perspective matters.

"The inharminous situation comes from some inharmony within you."

'Greatness isn't rated on strength, wealth, or intelligence: it is about humility and childlike faith.'

Nourish your inner being.

Work with yourself rather than against. Stop using others opinions and improve your opinions of yourself.

"Everyone has an opinion; few have an experience they can directly tie to the opinion."

'You cannot force the external to be what you are not.'

"You can't see the stars without the darkness."

"Find out who you are and what you like, not trying to become what you think. Others would like best."

'Don't let fear call the shots in your life. Floor it with your faith!'

"When you can't win by being better, you can win by being different."

Be well....

Moments #3

"I planned for us to go for an overnight stay in Maine. Is that OK with you?"
Ummmm.... "ABSOLUTELY! "
So many moments etched in my memory.
Beautiful. Simple. Connecting. Present. Powerful . Force. Expansion. Space. Nature. Comforting. Nourishing. Organic. New. Restorative. Energizing. Grounding. Meditative. Open. Light. Joyful Healing. Entertaining. Real. Change. Harmonious. Gratitude. Special. Flow.

Moments:

Finally arriving at our destination. The first breath of ocean air. A break in the rain, and a leisurely walk along the beach. Homes dotted along the shoreline. Picking out our favorites. The two most shabby get chosen. Weathered, but cute. Unmatching shingles and a front porch. Humble. Welcoming. Cozy.
A girl walking her shaggy dog, pulling it from the waters edge. Losing her footing, and landing in the sand. Brushing it off, but slightly deflated.
A chill in the air, a blonde haired boy with a tank top and shorts, running barefoot dodging the waves. Tagged by one he didn't see coming. Enjoying it all. Uninhibited.
Climbing back in the truck in time for rain to return and the tide to move in. A handful of beach stones in warm browns and blacks for my collection back home.❤️

A drive through the tiny village of Kennebunkport.Hoards of people making the most of a rainy day outing. One available parking spot for a compact car only. Maybe next time.❤️

Up at 4 AM. Hustling to make two coffees to go. Pulling on sweatshirts and ball caps. The Robin singing in the rain. A short drive to the beach to catch the sunrise. Another optimist pulling up to park beside us. Waves crashing on the shore. A dense fog curtaining the sun.
Maybe next time. On to breakfast at a local cafe. Hot coffee in blue stoneware mugs.
Alan Jackson singing "Remember When" in the background. Suspended in the moment.❤️

A slow crawl through winding village streets. Quaint homes blanketed in heavy fog. A light house up on an island to itself. My first. A massive gull, barely visible through the thick air, finishing off his catch for the day atop the dark oval rock. Pink and white flowers juxtaposing black rock, gray sea and air so thick you can wear.
Beach wave hair.  ❤️

Be well....

Moments #2

I have wanted to blog..to share. Equally , I have wanted to step back and recalibrate. Refocus. My blog is a place to let go. Write. Receive. Record, and process. My journal is it's fuel.
The pages are filling fast. The blog is the sifted version. The nuggets.  The moments captured. The place to reflect and sit with gratitude and appreciation for my life. The struggles. The growth. A place to connect with the memories of that time. That season. That chapter. I feel like I am on the cusp of another chapter, change, or season. I have found a great peace in my faith, my family and my friends. I have been disciplined. Teachable. Open and willing.
Life is always uncertain. Fear is normal. I could go there. Easily. Fear. Doubt. Insecurity. It's familiar. It's predictable. But there's always an inner tug pulling me up. Forward.Higher.
Ignoring it only causes me to struggle greatly. Surrending and letting go sets me free.
I read this quote this morning, as the blue jay squawked at me from the branch above. (Symbolic of truth, communication, loyalty, perseverance, and overcoming challenges.)
"When you own your true energy, the earth itself will breathe a long, deep sigh....of relief."
I will be breathing with her.

Moments ❤️

My Dad, my stepdad, his MG. Meeting up at a car show. Hugs. Chats. Community. Music. Americana . "My Wish" coming over speakers in the background. The 3 of us connected in a circle. An ache. "He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother". ....a lump in my throat. A momentary visit back in time. A little girl. Dad playing a cassette. "My favorite." That song. Surreal. Father's Day.❤️

An impromptu hike. Meeting half way to join me on my traditional first day visit. Her first time to see the Falls. Decades for him. A great pause to take in all the beauty. Selfies. A Scarlet Tanager landing in a maple tree. My first. Symbolic of joy, passion and a vibrant, active spirit. Hope and transformation. Pursing desires. New beginnings. Warmth, happiness, renewal.
An orange octopus resting in the gravel. Imagination. Curious minds. A gift of the unexpected.❤️

Taking the time to let life in. Giving myself massive doses of Love. Acceptance. Comfort and nature.
'Simplicity is nature's default position.'
No agenda. Minimal planning. Going with the flow. Spontaneous.Uncomplicated. Organic. Refreshing.  The dove is coo-ing in the distance. Healing. Love. Life.

Be well ...

Moments

Grounded. Connected. Roots. Family. Contentment. Nostalgia. Love. Nature. Healing. Restoration. Calm. Aligned. Belonging. Safe. Care. Understanding. Sharing. Nurturing. Accepted. Laughter. History. Spaces. Imprints. Ancestry. Purpose.
Nature. Openness. Flow. Beauty. Bonds. Memories. Journey. Home.

As much as I wanted to detach from technology, I wanted to preserve  some moments on here. Its taking me a minute to figure out how to post from my phone, and I'm uncertain how the results will be. But honestly, later ... when I need a good dose of home, how it posted won't matter one bit. 🩷

My heart is open & my nervous system has shifted into restorative mode.  I can feel the tension in my neck ( chronic pains since January) slowly fading. My mind becoming more at peace. I am home.

Moments 💗

2 days ago from his truck parked at the airport, Dad watched a plane come in to land through his binoculars. Little did he know it was mine. We were early. I should have waved. ❤️

Pulling into a station for gas on the way home, I was soaking in all the details from my passenger seat. Dad standing at the pump, a lady in green scrubs walking into the store, a school bus pulling up at the curb to stop and let off some kiddos. I noticed a little boy sitting in the back of the bus with a white headset on. He stared out the window. I sent him blessings. The bus started to pull away. He suddenly looked up, as if I called his name and gave me a big excited wave, like he had spotted his long lost friend. ❤️

Sitting down to dinner. A bowl of bok choy.  I shared a memory with my stepmom of the first & last time I ate bok choy was during our lunch at the Omega Institute, and  how I really liked it. She said she tried to fix it that same way.  ❤️

Missing my French pressed coffee in the morning. Spotting a mini French press while shopping for groceries at my favorite health food store.  A pound of locally grown organic coffee from Vermont . ❤️

My morning journal, and devotional in the yard while Dad mows. His glances to let me know that where I am is OK. ❤️

Sending my cousin a random text, letting her know I was just relaxing outside in the shade with a book. Keeping it simple. Inviting her to join me in my simplicity if she'd like. Her showing up 5 min. later.❤️

My Dad wanting to share a historical video taken of the area in the 30's. Before he was born. My grandpa, his Dad, coming out of the Gas Station he owned. Which is now this house. The emotional tugs. ❤️

Remembering  my Grandma feeding the chipmunks so lovingly by hand. Me now leaving them peanuts on the stone wall. Wondering if they are great, great, great,....grandchips. ❤️

These are the moments that too easily slip from memory. These are the moments that I cherish. This is what grounds me. This is home.

Be well...

Pause

As I sat on the porch this morning writing in my journal,
a Wrenn flew in & landed right on the rail next to me.
It took a little pause, gave me a glance, then off it went.
I got up to get some coffee, and went to fluff up the pillows
when this little guy hopped out, from under them.
Then Charles Stanley landed on the porch to eat his
yummy beetle breakfast.

Of course I had to look up all the signs...
Cardinal (Charles Stanley) is positivity, and spirituality.
Also a connection to loved ones.
The frog is transformation, healing and transition.
"And when a Wren appears for you,
you can be certain change is coming,
and change is also needed."

Making note of the little ways life pours in.

Journal note to self,
See what is there, don't shrink. You must know every
intricate detail of yourself.
Don't fight with yourself.
Shine. Take appropriate steps toward healing & connection.
Accept who you are now & all you have done.
Then give yourself a big hug & kiss.
You've been through a lot.
A little loving tenderness could be what you need right now.
xoxo

I am taking a break from here.
I fly out in the morning to spend some much needed
time with my family, and friends back home in
Upstate NY.
I'll be back on here in a couple of weeks.

Some journal notes from today....

Pay attention to what is going on in your life.

"Faith makes the day & paves the way."

Always be grateful & count your blessings.

Be light hearted, to be free & to take that leap of faith.

"If you change nothing, nothing will change."

'The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything
along the way?'
Proverbs 20:24

Never stop praying.

Do what you are called to do each day.
step-by-step.

Get away for a little while.
Renew yourself & your spirits before
continuing on the journey.

Break away & regain focus.

Press on, but remember balance, and don't
forsake your physical, spiritual, & emotional health.
You want to be healthy enough to enjoy the journey.

Enjoy the people in your life.

Focus on the belief that all is well.

Breathe deeply. Get peaceful. Trust.
Keep the focus simple.

be well...

Light-hearted

"Have some fun-with life, with the day.
Life is not drudgery; that is an old belief.
Let go of it.
We are on an adventure, a journey.
Events will come to pass that we cannot now fathom.

Polls and pens...

Replace heaviness and weariness of spirit with joy.
Surround yourself with people and things
that bring lightness of spirit.
The journey can be an exciting adventure."

by our serenity make others more tranquil.

And a smile costs nothing.

If we are to die in a minute,
why not die happily laughing?"

What If

This morning...
there is a gentle rain, thunder,
and I am throwing on my farm clothes to go do something I love!!
It's my fist day as a volunteer.
I am so excited to have this opportunity to work with kids, horses, and therapists.
My heart is happy!

I think we're drawn to the things that teach us who we
really are, that carries our unique nature....
that helps us connect to the music in our soul.

What if....
we maintained a listening attitude?
What if... we quit comparing ourselves to anyone.
What if ...we depend on God,
rather than any earthly crutch,
and trust in His tremendous love and
awesome plans?
We have absolutely nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

'You know that moment when you realize that
everything has lined up perfectly,
perhaps serendipitously?
It's remarkable and you should celebrate these moments.

celebrate with gratitude and reverence.
Things line up when they are supposed to.
Timing is everything and when it's
least expected, it's most exciting.'

Align

Find the small pockets of time to take in the beauty,
and let go of the rest.
Breathe out stress, breathe in peace.
Breathe out tension, breathe in ease.
Breathe out worry, breathe in faith.

...grand-pet sitting at my kiddo's

Asking for total happiness is not asking for too much.
Truly listen to your desires.
Carve out little reprieves.
Trust your gut, & stop ignoring your inner compass,
worried about others emotions, or what they think.
Work on the courage to trust it, and align
what you do, with what is true for you.
Trust God to meet you at your point of need
with His grace and wisdom which will undoubtedly
put you on the right road to recovery,
and wholeness.

God really is in the details.

Some journal notes while away...

There is no fear in love.

Protect your dream from those who do not understand.

Let trust and thankfulness stand guard.

'Love Me with all of your heart, soul, and mind.'
Matthew 22:37

"If you can't hear the voice of God,
it's time to carve out a quiet place in your life."

God will lead you, but He won't force you to follow.

'The contents of your thoughts have an enormous
impact on your health & wellbeing.
Depression & anxiety can be because of distorted thinking.
If not corrected , it can lead to a breakdown in health.'

'Audit your life & become aware of where you are spending
your time & who you are spending it with.'

'Understand the life you have been living &
the life you want to live in the future.
Move closer to that version of life.

The more you invite God into your life,
the healthier & happier you will be.

Life is an inner process of becoming all
you were meant to be.

Nothing is impossible with God.

Healing

I have learned that discomfort is just a signal
that I am capable of more.
That meditation and journaling
are amazing healing tools.
And...
that I am willing to do whatever it takes to win on the inside.

Journal notes...

It is vital that you remain hopeful,
no matter what is going on in your life.

Peace is an inside job.

You do not need to present a different version
of yourself to earn love, acceptance, &
connection, and have deeper relationships.

Live the simplest version of who God made you to be.
Be authentic.
They will love who you really are.

The only adequate source of help is God.

'God helps you change and grow,
and become spiritually mature & whole
in spirit, mind, and body.'

"Do not let your hearts be troubled
& do not be afraid."
John 14:27

Don't fight battles when you don't have a real way to fight them.
Keep your focus on things that are important to you.

You have the power to make today feel the way you want.

Find the tone you want to set for the day.
Breathe.

"Broom the gloom, & make room
for the blossoms to in your heart to bloom."

be well...

"I wish people knew that when we start healing,
we can also feel some sadness.

We realize how much we've missed out on.

How we were let down by others
and how we let down ourselves.

How much the past version of us actually deserved.

Healing involves healthy grieving;
cathartic crying.

The Japanese call it Rui Katsu
"Tear seeking".
A biological baptism,
born again anew."

Simple

She made herself at home in the backyard for the day. She napped in the wicker chair, stretched out in the shade, and snacked under the rose...
