Unbothered

Peace is worth more than being right.
Keep your inner peace.
It's a practice.

"The person who makes you the angriest
is showing you exactly what you haven't
made peace with in yourself."

Journaling...

Simple but not easy.
Let go of the need to control.

Pause.
Keep your inner peace.
Stay calm.
See clearly.
Let it go.
Free to be.

Refuse to waste energy worrying,
and you will have strength to spare.

A Spiritual transaction is acknowledging
that a higher power is in charge of your life.
The outcome is His.
Lighten your load.
Be relieved from feeling responsible
for things beyond your control.

Be more sensitive to His Spirit.

"Blessed is the man who listens to me,
watching daily."
Proverbs 8:34

'See problems or possibilities.
Complain or be grateful.
Live in fear or live in faith.
The difference between a heavy heart and
a peaceful one is perspective.
Gratitude and joy aren't feelings
They're decisions.
You choose.'

"In the end- it's you.
Your heart, your soul,
your energy.
Take care of them.
You matter. Always."

The enchantment of Winter is not missed by me.

"Wherever you are, be all there."

snow day movie date

Joy is that intense gratitude for someone of something.
Aligning with your core values.
Inward peace and happiness.
It comes from the inside out.

Journaling....

See things from a heightened, big-picture, perspective.

Meditate on the truth.
Absorb it into your very being.

"When you see faults in others, go a little easier on them.
The same applies to you.
Don't be so hard on yourself when you blow it."

"Faith isn't figuring out what we're able to do.
It's deciding what we're going to do
even if we think we can't."

"Our faith will grow when we regain
a sense of childlike wonder."

If you want a different outcome than what you've
been seeing, adapt a new strategy.

Focusing on your difficulties intensifies
 & enlarges them.

'Get good counsel for your life,
but don't get head-faked by what
the peanut gallery has to say.'

" Whatever it is that God made you good at,
do it with gusto like you're serving Him."

Nothing is too difficult for you.
(with God)

Choose gratitude over victimhood.

The biggest fight is with yourself.

Becoming yourself is an amazing adventure.

"Keep showing up;
you're the only you there is."

"No one but you is responsible for your happiness."

"Happiness leaps into existence from a positive attitude to life."

Make sure at the end of the day you are happy.
Life is too short for stress and unhappiness.

Be sure to taste the moment to the full.

'Remember when you were young and wanted

" A man at the bottom of a deep well cannot

Gratified

I've nailed it!
Making sourdough bread by memory now.
I swore I heard Professor Higgins saying,
 "By George, she's got it!"
from somewhere in the Universe.
(My Fair Lady)
Dare I say, this is the "Best loaf ever" ?
I will.
I say it every time.

It's no small thing to celebrate a simple life.
To turn away from mainstream,
and allow lovely things to define my moments,
and let the rest of the
world just fade away for a while.

Journaling....

Worrying causes us to be all over the place,
but seldom at home. It pulls us apart
and makes us lose our center.

Instead of looking for things to complain about,
look for reasons to give thanks.

The world is starved for genuine love.

Every act of love is a profession of faith
because it whispers His name.

'We don't have to spin- because we know
our happiness is anchored in
something greater than anything we
can see here and now.'

The lie: I am a victim of my circumstances.
The truth: My circumstances provide
opportunities to experience the goodness of God.

"Once you start seeing seeing things to be grateful for,
your brain starts looking for more things to be grateful for."

Choose gratitude &
rewire your brain.

Contentment

Contentment is simple, sweet and slow.
It's that space within a moment that can leave
the mess of the outside world,
and allow my heart to feel a mix
of peace and joy.

Buddy

Contentment is...
sitting on the floor,
  devotionals scattered around me,
Polly stretched out napping on my lap,
sipping coffee, and watching the snow fall outside my window.

The smell of bacon filling the house,
something hubby fixes every Sunday morning.

 Blondie and Buddy.

Kleenex tucked into my coat pockets...
and memories of my gram always having one tucked into hers.

Coming into a warm home after farm chores on a frigid day.
Changing into our comfy sweats, and making a
pot of soup and cornbread together.

Mugs of hot chai, candles flickering, streaming "feel good" movies.
Hubby covering my lap with his warm blanket.

Journaling...

Do not focus on the circumstances that weigh you down.
Look to brighter times through eyes of faith.

What you believe shapes how you respond
 to the challenges that arise.

Ditch the desire for instant gratification.

Celebrate every piece of progress.

'Life doesn't tend to follow our plans.
It's more like exploring opportunities
as we follow a trail of breadcrumbs.'

"No miner strikes gold with with first swing of the pick."

"Most prisons are of our own making.
A man makes his own freedom too."

How you perceive is how you respond.

Release the pressure to be perfect.

'Your life isn't meant to be a series of
disappointments, nor is it intended to be
ordinary & stuck in a rut.
Stuff happens. You're not perfect.
God knows that.
Trust Him.
He has a  plan to get you through.'

'Peace is not something that happens externally;
it's an inside job.
Peace is based on your state of mind.'

'It's not how you start something that counts,
it's how you finish it.'

Clear away misconceptions.
Love more.

Love is an anchor for your soul no matter what happens.

Simplicitites

"Year by year the complexities of this spinning world
grow more bewildering and so each year we need all the more
to seek peace and comfort in the joyful simplicities."
~Women's Home Companion, December 1935~

Simple things...

 The moment of shift.
From rush to a long pause,
as I wait for some random chicken to cross the road.

Little boy giggles over T-rex arms, and horse poop.

Singing along to Abba as we walk around the arena.

Taking the long way home on country roads,
just me and my camera.

Brandon laughing on the phone, as he recapped his
snowmaggedon experience at the local market.

Struggling with a decision. Praying about it.
And Hubby walking in, answering the question
I didn't even ask.

The heat in the old farm truck as we roll hay out for the cows in the snow,
a mug of hot tea,
and getting a call from my Dad.

Synchronicity of Things...

Going back to a call made to schedule an appointment,
 which somehow led to
chatting about the year of the snake,
and the shedding of old skin.

Followed by subtle signs & a strong nudge.
 The green light.
Cueing me that it's time to begin.

Resistance.
I set & circle a date, and decide to go with the flow.
My head is ready, but my heart whispers "slow".

My neighbor visits & hands me
a package, unexpectedly sitting at my door.
A note from home & a thoughtful gift.
Some tears, a call, and much, much more...
the timing was perfect,
I felt the tug at my core.

Fear, doubt and uncertainty come near,
the circled date also, a birthday of someone dear.
Listening to a talk-show while visiting Mom... they mention..."the year of the horse".
I look to see the date, and it's the one I have in a circle, of course.

Journaling...

If you want something, take action today.
Every small step leads to change.

Anything that makes you anxious is a growth
opportunity. Embrace the challenge eager
to gain the blessings hidden in the difficulties.

Start in the present moment-
accepting things exactly as they are.

Give yourself.

You see many things that miss the mark,
and it's uncomfortable.
Don't run away.

Be clear in your mind of exactly what you
want to happen. Leave the how to God,
even if it's unrealistic.

"Hold your course and don't let go..."

This morning I have the desire to go somewhere.
I'm feeling a pull for Costa Rica...
then I pop back into reality,
and it looks more like shopping for tires,
and touring Walmart.
Who knows...? could be fun.

Journaling...

Don't worry about having it all figured out in advance;
you'll connect the dots as you go.

'Reading in a spiritual way is reading with a

Not to master knowledge, to let God's

What helps others & inspires you?

Sleeping through the night.
Sitting in stillness and light.
Silence.
Prayers & letting go.
Rejoicing...
& then, flow.

Another chip falls away,
allowing the light to show the way.
Revealing that...
sometimes, love is learning how to stay.

Journaling...

Don't try to figure out what's happening....

All we leave behind is our love.

Cut out things that hold me back, take up too much time,
or no longer inspire me, and make more room for love.

Simply trust.

We butt heads, then we hug.
Get the willies when we throw out the trash...
and are met with huge opossum eyes in the outdoor trash can.
Cheer when it's gone the next morning.
Play bumper-bodies as we get ready,
and do our mirror-checks.
Agree on Italian for dinner.
Pasta sampler platter for her.
Greek salad with chicken for me.

We shiver to the car, then ooh and ahh over heated seats.
Take turns pointing out spots of beauty on our drive home...,
and take an extra 30 minutes to make the last 1/2 mile so we
can stop to get out and take pictures of the sunset with our phones.
I turned to her and asked...
"Do you know how long it would take if we decided to drive to NY ??"
We both giggle...

January 13, 2026

Yesterday there was sleep deprivation from a restless night before.
A morning session at the therapy barn.
A brief discussion before heading into the arena with
the therapist (side note: she mentioned my name once) and her client, a super-cute blonde boy, around 6-ish.

We walked around the arena with super-cutie,
while he rode the therapy horse on his own.
Chatting the whole time, while following through on the prompts from
his therapist. He didn't miss a beat.
At the end of his session, he got to pick an activity he'd like to finish with.
He chose tic-tac-toe.
He would pitch his bean bag from upon his horse into a square.
He was asked who he wanted to play it with?
He looked at me and said, "Robin."

After that, a quick Walmart run, and then Tai Chi.
I came home in survival mode.

My take away for the day? "Robin".
It left an impact on me. That's all I can say about that.
He won by the way.

This morning, I woke up refreshed.
Whispering a big "thank you" for not feeling like
my head was screwed on backwards.
I started by stepping out into the cool breeze, to feed the birds
& waddling chickens running from the neighbors for their handful of seeds.
I can't resist waddling chicken runs... too sweet.
I came in with the scent of fresh-air on my clothes (*love), put the kettle on for coffee, and turned on an audiobook to feed me positive words,
 while I prepped a
batch of sourdough to put in the oven.
Sourdough is fun.
It's like having adult play-dough that I get to eat.
I even ordered some whimsical beeswax bags to store the loaves in.
However, I have developed a habit of eating the end off of every loaf
I've baked so far.
While it's fresh and warm.
That's my favorite piece.
Every time.
I've not given away one loaf yet that didn't have part of it missing,
which is why I usually give away 1/2 loafs.
So now my secret is out, if you happen to be a recipient.

Lots of journaling today...
good shifts are happening on my end.
Neuroplasticity & mindfulness are on my path.
(I'm fascinated by the mind.)
I'll try to filter through and grab some of the best..

This day is a precious unrepeatable gift.

A life close to God, will never be dull or predictable.

Expect each day to contain surprises.

Resist the tendency to search for the easiest route
through the day.

Don't just do what you're able to do;
figure out what you were made to do,
then do a lot of that.

You don't have to stick to things just because
it makes the people around you happy.

Figure out what sparks life in you
& throw yourself into it without caring
whether anyone is watching.

Make some changes to keep current
with who you've become.

"We're all constantly changing."

'Don't resist the change.
Go with it.
Don't be limited by what you excel at.'

'Act on the ache you feel to live the story you
always wanted-
the story you were meant to live.'

It's never too late to do what you were meant to do.

'God will guide you in your decisions.
He will lead you & equip you to
accomplish His plans for you.
Trust Him.'

'There are endless "ifs"
hidden in the world's love.
Looking for your true self in the world of
conditional love, will keep you "hooked"
to the world-
trying, failing, trying again.'

'When you say "yes" to others,
make sure your not saying "no"
to yourself.'

Don't let yourself down.

Don't disappoint yourself to avoid having to
disappoint someone else.
Don't choose to disappoint yourself.
Prioritize your values & needs,
and honor yourself.

'You don't need to find courage in order to make changes.
As you make whatever change is needed,
you will also gain courage.'

It's what we do,
not what we say we believe,
that defines us.

Don't let who you were define who you are becoming.
Decide that failure isn't going to be a limiting
factor in your life.

One crucial step to getting from where you are
to where you want to go is not to
be afraid of making a couple of mistakes along the way.

You must think greater than your feelings.
To change, is to think and act greater
than your present circumstances.
Greater than your environment.
Don't let your outward experience sway you to
give up on your ideal.
Be clear in your mind of exactly what you want
to happen.
Leave the rest to God.
Even if it's unrealistic.

Learn to fall into Grace,
and be led where you're meant to be.
The pieces will come together.

Eventually you will see that He has worked through
every detail in your life to bless you.

'...and maybe tomorrow when you look back,
you will find the strength to tell the story.'

be well...

You’re Not Losing the Battle

'You're not losing, you're fighting the battle the wrong way.
The real battle isn't the one you see,
it's what you believe you must do to win.'

I am smitten with these little YouTube videos.
Cute stick people, and a fun way to be inspired and stay focused.
This is the one I listened to this afternoon while fixing dinner,
and it seemed to pair up well with notes for the day.

Journaling today....

Guard your gift of receptivity.
Nurture it.

Focusing on your concerns keeps you in a state of tension.
When you think of God answering your prayers,
your mind-set becomes much more positive.

Make every effort to add to your faith-
goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance,
godliness, brotherly kindness, and love.
2 Peter 1: 5-9

Train your mind to move quickly from problem mode,
to prayer mode.

Gather an arsenal of prayer, and speak them boldly.

Step out of fear and into freedom.

Make courageous changes & expand your faith.
What's your next move?

Do not merely listen to the word,
and so deceive yourself.
Do what it says.
James 1: 22

You are known for your actions.

Thank God for who you are.

Start appreciating yourself.

When you focus on the wrong areas,
you don't get the right results.

"We were so busy dealing with the negative
that we didn't hear the positive of what God said."

God decorates you on the inside.

"God painted a wonderful piece of artwork
one day. That painting is you."

Light and love are on your side.

January 10, 2026

The aroma of fresh coffee before that first sip.
The song and dance Polly goes through before
finally finding a place to settle down on my lap.
The lightness in my soul after an evening
spent with an old friend to share our struggles, dreams,
and our faith paired with pizza, and pup cuddles.
My kiddo's thoughtfulness, random texts, and charming sense of humor.
The way the sunrays shine through the window and warm my skin
on a cold morning.

The letter that formed in my
journal notes this morning.

I may not always know where I'm going -
but today I sense that I'm
heading in the right direction.

Dear beloved,

The more you trust Me,
the more I empower you to do so,
Trust me here and now. You are in vigorous training-
on an adventurous trail designed for you alone.
I am doing things you can't understand.
Trust Me.
Cling to My hand as you follow this trail
of shadowy darkness.
Find hope in Me beloved, for I am taking care of you.
Focus on enjoying Me and all that I am to you-
even though your circumstances scream for resolution.
Refuse to obsess about your problems, &
how you are going to fix them.
Affirm your trust in Me, wait hopefully in My
Presence and watch to see what I will do.
I always know what is in your best interest & act accordingly.
Regardless of what your circumstances look like,
I know how to turn them for your good.
I am aware of everything influencing the situation
as well as all the potential consequences for you and others.
I alone comprehend the totality of every decision.
Stay in continual fellowship with Me.
You may not know what to do today,
but I do - perfectly.
Seek Me and pay attention to what I am teaching you.
I am faithful to lead you in the way you should go.
I have plans for you that are good and lasting and important.
Work with what you have -
not what you wish you had.
Times of desperation often lead to great revelations
if you make the choice to be open and look for them.
Invite Me to build something beautiful and lasting.
Participate in life to the best of your ability.
Relax. Your best is good enough.

Self-contentment

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Doors and windows open, sitting on an old tattered quilt, listening to the clucks and giggles ...
