Story

I read this story

 of a farmer

who sold his farm and left his family

to travel the world in search of wealth.

He looked everywhere he could 

to find the diamonds

he lusted after.

Finally,

 alone, homeless and in despair

he ended his own life.

His search for riches had consumed him.

The man who bought the land from the farmer,

was grateful for every blade of grass

that was now his

and lavished love and hard work on his farm.

At night he was surrounded by his family,

and eating the fruits of his labor.

He was a contented man.

One day he made a remarkable discovery.

His backyard was a diamond mine-

an acre of diamonds.

And the simple farmer 

became wealthy beyond his dreams.

I love when we drop everything

and gear up to go for a drive, take pictures

and do something different.

Getting away from our routine 
and responsibilities for a few moments.
It feels special.

When I sit alone in nature

 pick up a stick 

warm myself by fire

enjoy the sun on my face

and desperately try to keep things simple...

When I yearn for peace

and quiet...

and need to be alone...

and no one else understands.

Realizing

When we see someone 

struggle

we reach out 

to help them.

 When we see 

 someone happy 

and strong...

reach out to them too...

because often they are best

at hiding their pain.

Antidote

Thoughts and feelings grab...

and 

overwhelm 

starts to wrap itself

around me.

  The chalk

  fresh air

and a whispered prayer...

become my weapons

to return me

to now

where I find

simplicity

peace

 and gratitude.

Knowing

My prayer is that we all love the way we live,

by knowing what it is we truly love.

Truth

" Often people attempt to live their lives backwards:

they try to have more things, or more money,

in order to do more of what they want

so that they will be happier.

The way it actually works is the reverse.

You must first be who you really are, then,

do what you need to do, 

in order to have what you want. "

My prayer is that this year, we discover more

about ourselves.

Accept others to be themselves.

Find the beauty in the ordinary.

The lessons in the frustrations.

And try to live the authentic life that we each have been created for.
