Blessed In The Mess

After Christmas came the downpour.

Below Stockton Dam

And one afternoon,
the phones were put away...
the rain-coat & rubber-boots were pulled out.
the truck was warmed...
and we headed out to explore.

Simone (Gary's grand-daughter) wanted to join us on the adventure.

Simone is 5... and,
she is wise beyond her years.

We had some good chats.
At one point she tilted her head toward me smiling, and asked... " Did you know...
that when you wave at someone,
and they wave back...
that is a bucket-filler ?"

Wow ! Thank you !

Those words have blessed me all week !

We all hear words we want to hold onto,
phrases that we don't want to forget
because they made us feel good.

And that day....Simone's simple words
were refreshment for my soul.

I think we underestimate the power of our words, and the little gestures we make...
and the impact they can have.

At that moment it was like a little God nudge to be more aware of our potential to effect others!
We always have the ability to make someones day... to be a "bucket-filler".
Sometimes we make things more difficult than it has to be.
We think we need to do more...be more...give more....to make a difference.
Maybe all we need to do is wave.
Thank you Simone for being a shining star and for blessing me with your words.
It truly is the little things that mean the most.
We love you !

XOXO
